Default droping a lower year motor.

hey guys i just bought a JDM b16a2 and its year is from a 91 car. my car is a 95 hatch. why is it ilegal to drop a motor that is older than ur car? and is there any way to make it legal?

If its a JDM motor I'll doubt they can verify that. Just say is newer or whatever.. then again in TX; JDM motors are no probs. I hope ya know ur swap is quite complicated in terms of wiring since the plugs are different.

the only thing i can think of for it being "illegal" is because you are going from obdII to obdI wiring and smog specifications. other than that i don't know why it would matter what you are doing to your motor.
