The cold start valve (IACV) in my B18C T/B became clogged last year and it was messing up my idle (going up and down) so i just plugged the valve and re-set the idle and it cured the problem. i always meant to take of the T/b and clean the valve but only got round to it today, so now i have that sucking noise thru the intake when you shut off the engine. Anywho i also reconnected the breather line to the intake (it was just blowing to free air) i took the car for a run and everything worked fine, but when i went to brake the brake pedal was near rock solid but the brakes worked fine, possibly even better!! So what i done have any bearing on the brakes, does the master cylinder for the brakes rely on air pressure from the I/M or throttle body, if not what could have done this to my brakes as i never touched anything else in the engine!

sounds like you disconnected the brake booster or you may ahve a faulty one way check vavlve if you are hearing a hidding sound after the engine is shut off the vavle could be bad and letting vacuum reserve in the booster bleed back into the intake?
