Is doing a obd2 to obd1 conversion better or make no diffrence....
it's kinda hard to find a cheap obd2 ecu so I was wondering if I should just go with a obd2 to obd1 conversion with jumpers. Would that help me somehow?? I'm doing a b16a2 swap into my 96 civic hatch.......also is a p72 ecu a 96-98 obd2 gsr ecu???
tell me if this is a obd2 or obd1 gsr ecu (96-98) 37820-p72-A04
970-302311 U8
and will it finish my 99-00 b16a2 swap to my 96 hatch????

P72 is OBD1 (94-95 GSR, I think. I forget on these). However, is overkill. Has knock sensor circuitry in it (will cause check engine light) and also has control for IAB on dual plenum intake.
I'd suggest looking for a cheap P28 ECU (92-95 Civic EX or SI ECU, I know for sure) with adapter harness.
I have quite a few of these in stock (due to being so popular and plentiful for this swap, as well as, all around ECU for most Hondata upgrades)
Also, carry OBD2-OBD1 adapter harnesses as well.
PM me for details...

hey do my a favor and see if this is the one I'm looking for http://members.***.net/gsx-r/ecu
Not the one I would suggest.
Need to find one with 37820-P28-XXX (last three numbers tell of updates, auto trans, manual trans)
This is the P28 ECU I was referring to.
If you decide to purchase from someone else, just ask if ECU was for manual trans or auto trans (manual trans will work fine/ auto trans takes one small mod internally to make work on manual trans car- no big deal)
Just let me know if you are interested...

yeah, as hontatim sayd the p72 is overkill....no iab's, youll run RICH and vtec x-over will be all messed up by being too low for the b16(4400 for p72 and 5700 for b16)

well my friend has a 96 gsr sedan so well the p72 ecu work on his car??? becuase if it does then I'll trade him ecu.....will it work the same in his car or diffrent??? will it fit????
If your friend wants to convert to OBD1, then yes, P72 with adapter harness is what he would need for his application.
i might just buy the jumper adapter and run the 99-00 si ecu I already have. I have another question, I'm going to buy this hatch that has a b16 delso motor in it.
the piont is that when vtec hits, the RPM moves back and forth and there's no kick to it. Tell me what you think.....you think it's worth it for $2,000 car body is in ok condition....
