It looks pretty crappy to me. When I took the valve cover off of my b16 it was clean with a little oil left in certain spots but it definitely did not look like the pics you are showing.

it looks like it hasn't been driven in a couple years, and that the oil just dried up, i hope thats the case, cause that would be a really big waste of time picking that up if it was nothing but junk
My D16 w/ 170K miles looked cleaner. My old 87 Accord w/180K miles looked cleaner.
Even if you go thru and clean the head, it'll just clean it, not undo whatever excess wear it has gone thru from the lack of proper oil changes.

I case you guys didnt know, motors are not always silver inside.
Old ones always have that "anodized oil color" look, mine does! and runs like a champ. But what I see from the pics, is something that probably had lengthy intervals between oil changes and also.. treatment from one of those oil additives that claim "coats your precious engine parts so it will run smoother".

May dad accord with 235,000 miles looked better than that, and he changed to mobil one every 7500 miles on the dot, just like the honda manual says. That my friend, is called sludge.
thats really nasty for a DOHC Vtec engine- lack of oil changes- period. I see it all the time. I would not have bought it. It will probably have bad piston slap when cold.
