When I got the tranny, it was supposed to come with a quaife. I looked through the diff, and sure enough you can see straight through it.
If I jack the front of the car off the ground and put it in gear, if I turn one wheel the other turns the opposite direction. If a buddy tries to turn one side while I'm turning the other, it won't go (i.e., while in gear one wheel always turns the opposide direction when the car's up in the air).
Is this a good method for determining if a tranny has an LSD?
BUT, I broke an axle at the track, and the car wouldn't budge. Can't you drive an LSD equipped car on one axle?

A quaife needs at least a small amount of resistance from one wheel to get torque over to the other. That is why the rally guys don't use them. One wheel in the air and the other does not get power. So, with one axle broken, the car will not move.

Whew... that a relief.
So... is having the car off he ground and spinning one wheel a bad way to determine if a car has an LSD?
Is a OEM honda LSD able to drive with one axle busted?

Well, I thought that I did when I got it... but now I'm used to it.
I was worried that it was malfunctioning somehow because I couldn't drive with only one axle. Is there any wasy that quaife could "break" and act like an open diff?

yes that is a bad way to determine if u have lsd.
if u can look str8 thru it then u have lsd but if there is a pin in it then its not.
another way to tell if u have lsd is to do a burnout and see if both wheel spin.
and yea u can drive on one axle with lsd but its not recommened
