Default DIY Oil catch can

Oil catch cans are ridiculously over priced for their purpose, so I decided to build my own.

Contents:
Stainless steel water bottle (not sure what size)
Two 3/8" barb fittings, 1/4" ID
Matching Nuts
Two #10 O-Rings
3/8" ID Vacuum Hose
Some left over wheel paint from repainting my wheels

Started by marking and drilling two holes towards the bottom, as the lid will be the drain.

The holes were then made larger, barb, o-ring, and nut were installed (which was tricky considering its a cramped space.)

Both fittings installed and bolted down tight, created a 100% airtight seal.

Then I cut off the original mount from the charcoal canister (icky) and sanded it down to a correct size, it fits perfect.

Using zip ties and a sharpie to mark the optimum placement for the mount in accordance the the engine.

Then three nice even coats of paint! Looks pretty good I think!

I'm planning on stuffing it with one of those shower scrubby thing-a-majigers, I've seen that on a few other DIY catch cans and it seemed to work. Does anyone have an idea on which barb I should use for which end? Not quite sure if it even matters.

Opinions?

It does matter. You want to use the lower barb for the crankcase side and the upper barb for the TB side. Liquids will flow downward. Filling it with pot scrubbers only does anything if you have a tube that discharges below the scrubbers. As the vapors rise to the outlet, the scrubbers act as a wick to attract liquid droplets out of suspension. Simply stuffing them in there won't do anything. Try it the way you have it and see if it helps. Looks good, by the way!
