Default diy a/f meter

Has anyone made a working a/f meter, and would you care to share? I've picked up a schematics based on the lm3914n, but I can't get either of them to work, or the simple 0-5v one in the lm3914 datasheet. I'd love to see a schematic that someone has followed (a working unit has been built to the schematic, not just the reverse) with success. I know a/f gauges are crap, but I want to build one anyway.

Are you talking about an Audio Frequency meter?
What are you measuring?
Why would you need one of these for a Honda?
C'mon back, I'm just curious.
You can find A/F's on the net by doing a Google search. You might get more responses from some of the Ham's on the ARRL sites too.
