the trick would be asking how can we do a coil-on-plug conversion using the stock ECU.
I know some guy did it over at pgmfi, but cant remember the link..

anybody?

Woah, neat! I might have to try my hand at building something like that! Is that a hall effect sensor pointed at the exhaust cam gear?

I am definetly interested in this type of setup, and have been looking for more information about it.

Is this setup done on a Honda ECU, or aftermarket, and do you have wiring instructions on how to do this.

we need more info on DIS!!!!!

Im personally going to be running an aem ems and am still in the dark about the whole setup. Would msd boxes and such still need to be used or is that not a big deal when you have one coil for each plug? How do you wire it all in??

Any links/posts/comments anyone can make would really be a great help !!

im going to be getting this running in the next coming weeks. currently working on "tucking" the wire harness that runs along the shock towers, and hiding the fuse box, that resides in the engine bay.

car- 88crx
AEM 1020 ems
AEM C2DI
Honda cbr 954rr coil on plug setup.
GE camgears

i got the hall sensor, and the cam gear modded from Tony1

we made our own bracket in solid works, than took the drawing to S&W racecars to have them cut it out for us.

The new land speed record holding Civic (Vortech's I think) has it, and in the magazine article they said they used it because you can't jump a spark like in a distributor, cause they have to use so much spark voltage or something??? And it can rev higher safer, probably cause of the same reason. Thats all I know about it, it sounds like it only makes sense for race only cars, but it sure looks cool on a Honda

well, one of the advantages is that you have 4 times the amount of time to charge the coil.

im just thinking it might be worth it for me to look into, since i dont have any money put into a decent ignition setup.

Dturbocivic, how much money do you have tied up into the system?

coils and harness- 125
tony1 camwheel mod & hall sensor- 420
GE cam gears 125
sensor bracket-150
aem c2di box-285

1105.00 total.

and im still not done with the wiring harness, heatshrink is about 3.00 per foot. and connectors run about 15.00 per.

for a good msd box, you are looking at 850.00 easy, than a coil, distributer cap, and sparkplug wires, and distributor(msdbillet, or accel dfi distributor) 1100 easy for "race only" parts. and possibiltiy of burning up an exensive msd box, coil, or distributor.
