distributor question!!
ok, I just finished my swap and drove it around and had sputtering around 4-5k. I assumed this was some sort of ignition problem. So, i put an ls rotor in my gsr dizzy and drove it to the end of my street. Then it died. I pussed it into my garage, and took the cap off and inspected it. i bought a new one and now nothing happens. When i crank it over it doesnt fire up. The plug wires and plugs are new also. Could it be the ls rotor? Also, i shot a flame out the intake mani when cranking it with the ls rotor. The engine was shaking pretty badly too. What is my problem?
Well if you were shooting a flame out the intake mani, Then that means that you are getting fuel and spark! You problem lies with timing! The intake valves are open when they need to be close! Sounds to me to be cam timing, but i would go over the whole thing to be certain? Did you do your timing belt, or has somebody else done it for you?
well the thing i dont get is that it was driving and i timed it also. I lined everthing up when doing the timing belt ( cam gears up along with crank pulley ). Then i timed it to like 14 dizzy.
ok, i went to check the timing and i realized that i am using two exhaust cam gears. I took the broken gsr one off and put an ls exhasut on the intake side. If i lined the dots up will this be ok? Wont it make the intake cam be 180 degrees off?
