Default Distributor problems! please help!!

hey everybody i really need help!

92 civic SI
JDM b16a swap (sir II) eg6
JDM obd1 ECU

my OBD1 B16a (sirII) dizzy went the other night. so i rebuilt it using my stock b16a dizzy housing but with OBD1 B18 guts. everything is identical from the shaft length to the sensors everything is mint. my entire system is OBD 1.
to replace the shaft and bearing, i had to remove the coupling to the intake camthat wheel with the ridge on it. (the male part that fits into the notch on the cam) i pulled off the snap ring and slid the pin out to remove it.

when replacing it i noticed there was no key for it to fit in a specific way, it can go the right way or it can be 180 degrees out.

i forgot what way to put it. stupid me. anyways i figured it try it one way and see how it goes.. do i did, it cranked and BANG!!!!!! a massive backfire... like a rifle shot coming from my engine. so i figured i had it backwards... i flipped it and still no go... it only turns over doesnt even want to fire at all. so i flipped it back and it didnt backfirte so loud it cranks and wants to catch but it pops out a backfire every now and then and just WONT start... has anybody had this problem before?! please help!!

does anybody know what way the notch wheel cam coupling thing goes in relation to something?

what could the problem be?

thanks!

Chris
