It's alot of work, pain in the *** really .. much easier to just buy a reman distributor. I did mine once but I wouldn't again, the tiny torx head screws that hold the housing together have loctite and have a nipple in the center so you have to tap the torx head down into the screw before removing .. the screws tend to snap if you do not heat/work them out gently. Also, with all this there is a chance of warping the shaft .. if you have a spare dist and want to try, go for it, or if you have time and want to give it a shot (because the junk one can still be core). Koyo bearing is #6001Z if that helps, or just have yours sized if you get it open.

edit: found a 4 yr old process I posted online, haha .. someone stole it! anyway, here's what I did to get mine replaced .. I forgot to add at the end to use a timing light to adjust timing.

You can tell if the bearing is bad before you start to disassemble the distributor .. the shaft would not turn, or would be difficult to turn by hand.

You can usually find the bearing at NAPA if
you can find someone to look it up in the catalog
by the actual size..

#6001-2ZJ is the number I used for a B16 unit...

hmm.. well the shaft still turns smooth and i dont feel any play in it. The tdc sensor tested good with an ohm meter. Last night we put my buddys distributor on the car and it fired right up. Im convenced the sensor is bad even though it test alright. but is that possible?
