thank you for the reply the problem I'm having is I installed this motor in my mothers car and it's 1000 miles away so I'm trying to get the distributer before I head there it was already changed once garage put a used one on so I can't reference the old distributer it's between a 97-to a 2000 non vtec carbureted motor and I don't know if all the distributers are interchangeable

Depends on what engine it actually is...sohc or dohc? it it is single and non vtec and SHOULD work fine with the d16y7 distributor. if it is sohc and vtec the y8 one should work.

No, dohc d series are ZC and are non vtec. D16y8 is Sohc Vtec. D16y6 is Sohc Nonvtec.

If you need a sohc distributor you need to determine if its vtec or nonvtec
