Differential Bearing
I did a search and didn't come up with anything, what are symptoms of a bad differential or diff. bearing? I think mine is going bad, sometimes when the car is in gear it hums as rpms go up, and it looks like there is play between the axle and trans. on the passenger side.
I would pull it apart and inspect everything ...and get to the bottom of that noise
a Diff bearing failure could seriously damage your trans beyond rebuilding
keep us posted on what your going to do
but if its making noise now ...i wouldnt race on it ...
just my .02$

I'm reassembling a tranny right now, and when the new OEM LSD diff is in place and spun as fast as I can spin it by hand, the bearings make a noise as if they are not lubricated well enough. The bearing itself feels tight.
I tried putting in my original open diff and spinning it to compare, and its roughly the same, a little quieter.
Is this normal or should there be nearly NO sound when you spin a diff in the casing?
