different length axles?

different length axles?
my passenger side axle will NOT go in all the way. i keep dropping fluid on the ground.. all over the bottom of my car, etc.
my question:
aren't all b-series axles the same? someone was saying maybe it's too long on the tranny side? there is a larger than normal gap. in fact, it's larger than i remember. i could swear it USED to be in all the way before i swapped from the b16 to the b18.... i took the clip off and STILL can't get it all the way in
they are JDM axles and the tranny is a JDM b16 and it's in a hatch.
anyone have an idea of what i can try? thanks!
