i dont know if i got the right forum but i just got a radar detector and it hooks up to the cigarette lighter. but i think thats kinda ugly... so i want to wire it to the power wire for the deck instead. do you think its possible to cut the cigarette plug end and connect it to the power wire? also, how do i know which one is power and ground on the radar detector? thanks in advance

ya... you open up the cig. lighter adapter part... (the part from the radar detector) it should have a fuse behind that little metal pop-in thing that pushes against the heating element of the cig. lighter...

the wire attached to that part is the +... the wire attached to the spring clips on the side are the ground...

You can now hardwire it like that BUT MAKE SURE YOU FUSE IT... the same as was inside the adapter plug.
