oil burns with a bluish/white color and coolant is WHITE. Too much fuel is brown.

too much fuel is brown or black. make sure you add the black.
and they each (oil and coolant) make a distinct smell. if your curious run your car for a while then drip some oil on the exhaust manifold (header/heat shield)
youll smell it.

If I remember correctly while coolant will just take up space in the combustion chamber oil being burned will lower the knock resistance of the fuel.

Burning coolant is usually a result of a serious problem (blown headgasket, cracked waterpassage) while oil burnig problems are generaly easyer to fix.

um, how compressable is coolant?

do you know of hydrolock?

ANYTHING that takes up space in hte combustion chamber on a compression stroke that is not air/fuel will ususally create bent rods etc?

yes, oil vapours will -> higher chance of detonation...

i understand coolant and oil are both white.... but how do u determine which white is oil and which is coolant.

IE: my car puffs a little white after heavy acceleration, but there is no oil in the radiator, and its not using any abnormal amounts of oil (about 1/2 qt every 2000 miles)

It also taste sweet . I found that out when I was under the car and some coolant dripped in my mouth, and boy was it sweet almost like koolaid. No wonder why dogs lick that stuff and die all the time.
