Differences between jdm and usdm b20b
how can you tell the difference. i thought i could by the stamp because US motors have a number after the b20b, but someone posted they have a jdm one and it has a number after it. how can i tell the difference. i dont want to get stuck with the low comp one.
The B20B(97-98) has a 8.8:1 compression and the B20Z(99-01) has 10.2:1 compression. I do not think there was a US spec and a Jdm Spec just different years
actually im pretty sure b20z is 9.6:1 but i wanna know how i can tell the difference between jdm b20b and usdm b20b on visual inspection(like at a shop).
Not according to the Feb/March edition of Honda tuning there is an article called Killer B deals with all the different honda swaps, I am actually just had my engine rebuilt using my B16a DOHC VTEC head and the b20b block only finished breaking in engine about 6 weeks ago so far no problems and excellent performance.
either way, anyone know how i can tell??
Just be safe and get a B20Z, thats what I'm doing
ok, please read my initial post before quasi flaming me. i said that someone posted that they have a jdm b20b and it has a number after it. im trying to find out if there is any other way to check. because there was a b16a1 in japan. im just trying to find out.

but I'm sure it should just be B20B, PM user : Newman , he had a JDM B20B should have pics too.
aside from the stamp, are there any diff. between usdm and jdm b20b? cuz im pretty sure usdm b20b is 8.8 and jdm one can go either way so,hmmmm. anyone else?
hey man its me.. remember me?? I just did a b29b swap in my hatch..
here are some other ways to tell if ur motor is jdm or usdm
1) ur fuel line that connects the fuel filter to the fuel rail will be on the driver side if its jdm and on the passenger side if its usdm.. so on my motor (jdm) i had to get a new fuel rail so the fitting is closer to the fuel filter.. i can show u a picture if u dont understand
2) the wire harness will be reversed.. everything from the right side will be on the left side.. (this is hard to tell though..)
3) the stamp is b20b no numbers behind it..
i'm sure i'm forgetting a bunch of things..
