Default difference in ls throttles

i have a obd1 ls throttle with a sensor thats about to break off. i got an obd2 throttle thinking they're the same. but i was wrong.

for the obd1, what is this metal hose for, (circled in green)? is it suppose to have a hose leading to the carbon canister?
what do i have to do to get the obd2 one to work with my motor?

hook up the breather line from the carbon cannister to your intake arm. *DO NOT* hook it to vacuum... i made this mistake before and it will make your car have a surging idle.

other than that, it should bolt right on.
