It has the lower type IM. The last compression numbers he had were 170/175/175/175 on a cold engine. He is going to do another one for me when the time comes to buy it.

That engine is mated with JDM ITR 4.785 tranny with Kaaz LSD. He let me drove the car but I was afriad to step on it. But damn, that LSD is tight (with PS belt off). I like the pull, it felt nice. He shifted at 3000RPM range and basically, all the shifting was done in less than 5 seconds, from 1st to 5th.

Runs on same 87 octane gas, has more power and torque than my Y7, great price and from a great guy. I will shoot myself for not jumping on this deal.
hope your enjoying the motor Charles. I was doing SOHC build up but I am saving for another B20... they are just so nice.!!!

sorry i know this thread is a bit old but i'm looking at getting a b20b right now... and of course i want the hi compression... can anyone confirm if the knock sensor is an indicator of this? as some have knock sensors... and some don't...

this link shows that the b20z has a knock sensor and a b20b doesn't (USDM) but from what i am finding out jdm b20b's seem to have knock sensors as well... on both short and long neck IMs...

thanks!

I am thinking about buying a B20 from hmotors, did everything come out okay? are they legit? I sent them an email and told them i was looking for the higher compression motor and even told them about the knock sensor cause i have talked to afew other motor swap places and they tried to tell me i did not know what i was talking about which i thought was hillarious and that all jdm B20's were high compression. I think it horrible how people try to rip people off i just wasnt to buy a motor and not get stuck in the rearend at the same time and get what i am looking for.

I went and looked at a B20Z2 longblock today. The fella told me the guy he got it from pulled it out of a wrecked CRV, (rear-end damage only) at a salvage yard that had 50,000 miles on the odometer. He was previously running the motor in a 5th gen Civic hatchback.

The block stamp, (square/flat spot near tranny) was stamped B20Z2 and the back of the block had a threaded hole for what seemed to be the original location of the knock sensor. I'd imagine he had the sensor out of the block because he was running it in an obd1 car with an obd1 ecu. The intake manifold seems to be from an obd1 LS motor.

This motor is very clean and I plan on picking it up for a very good price. I just wanted to double check and make sure it's the high compression 9.6:1 B20Z.

Does it sound like it indeed is what I'm looking for? (High Compression B20)

Yeah...Maybe it will help keep me from speeding so dang much on the interstate/freeway.

By the time this setup is in the car and running...I'll have another daily driver so this car will be mainly autox and nice day driver.

Thanks. Nothing fancy for now. Just your basic intake/header/exhaust.

One more question. My car is 98 Honda Civic Ex, (obd2a) and I'll be reusing my stock engine harness with this B20Z2 swap. Will either LS P75 ECU's work, (obd2a or obd2b) or do I need to stick with obd2a?

Thanks

yes up want to use the integra P75 ecu from a 96-98 RS and LS because the 99-01 units have the vehicle immobilizer device, you can use the 99-01 units but the immobilizer needs to be removed and that will cost more money.
