Default Difference between LS/VTEC and GSR

I was going LS/VTEC but then became aware of the oiling issues and that it cannot rev as high as my B16 (9k). A friend of mine installed a GSR and it's running great!

Can I install my ported B16 VTEC head on a GSR block or do I need a GSR VTEC head?

Can someone give me the pros and cons of LS/VTEC vs GSR?

Thanks!

the heads are interchangeable. ITR's are very similar to b16a heads. So thats why they call a gs-r bottom end w/ b16a head "poor man's R" I THINK ITR intake valves are bigger.
I think the gsr is the way to go. I put a gsr crank in a ls block cuz i built a "REAL poor man's R" I couldn't find a gsr block that didnt need sleeves but they had good cranks. I would say i am most worried about my oiling situation in my ls block. I have good pressure and all is good, but i'm crossing my fingers when I rev it out to 9.2k rpm.
If I could do it over, I would do a gsr block.

gsr head holds more compression because of the combusion chambers shape

what makes you think that an ls/vtec cant rev that high? i know people that have re'd to that daily, with the occasional flash to 10. but naturally they are beating the **** out of the engine, but with the correct componenets, a 8500RPM redline wont even be a problem for performance & reliability.

cuz its a mimick of a Type-R engine setup, mainly in regards to the block internals & head being used. Yes, a GSR block does have a 1.8L crank/rods/pistons but its not a Type-R crank/rods/pistons/slightly ported head being used ... "R" parts are balanced & specially treated by Honda unlike non-R parts.
