Difference between 96 and 99 B18C5?
I was asking this because some places sell 96 B18C5s less than 99 spec. So why would they sell it at a different price? And I also thought that there was a difference between usdm and jdm B18C5 piston compression ratio.
Ok.. just remember, there is no such thing as a 1996 or 1999 B18c5. Why? Because there was no Type R in America in those years.
There IS however, a 1996 and 1999 JDM B18c Type R.
JDM Type R compression is 11:1, for all years.
USDM Type R compression is 10.6:1, for all years.
Since the difference is so mild, it's not really going to matter what version of the Type R engine you go with. I run 92 octane on my JDM Type R engine and it runs beatifully.

Ahhhh thx Buddha, you have enlightened me.
Now another question, How much nitrous would you run on this motor without upgrading the bottom end. Give me the max amount on stock trim and upgraded head(port, cams, etc).
