frame straightening question
So what do you do first. I have a new suspension setup I need to install, and I need to put the frame on a frame rack to get "squared up again" because of an on track incident. Which do I do first, "square up" the chassis, or install the suspension? I just want to make sure that the suspension doesn't affect the final measurements when squareing up a frame. Thanks!
As long as you can get the car to wherever you are getting it straightened then I would just leave the suspension out... Once it's on the rack, most of the time suspension gets pulled off anyways... Really you can think about it this way... When a car is being made the frame is straight, then all of the suspension components are then added on.. You don't necessarily want to square the suspension off the chassis, it should lie where the chassis is directing it.. This is just how I see it and I may be totally wrong but doesn't this make sense... Well hopefully it does... Good Luck
there are also countless measuring points on the chassis (holes) that they use. Frame straightening is done seperate from suspension alignment. so you shouldn't worry. Of course Frame straightening comes first.
