Diagnosis Needed: Broken ring?
I busted a balancer shaft bearing in my Prelude. The bearing is right next to the #3 cylinder. When it broke, it took the tip of the oil squirter with it and closed it shut. I have pulled the crank to replace the balancer shaft metal. I inspected the cylinders by pulling the pistons up and down the cylinder by the rods. All the of the pistons are moving up and down smoothly, but the #3 piston is very hard to move and it makes a sucking sound when I try to move it. In fact, I can't puish it all the way towards the head and it springs back when I try. From the bottom of the piston, I don't see any scarring on the cylinder wall. Could I have messed something up or maybe it's like that from the lack of lubricant after the oil squirter broke and just needs some oil? What could be wrong?
