Detonation and timming
Heres the meat of my setup:
b18c1 with CTR .25 pistons, skunk2 stage 2 cams, and a Skunk2 chipped P28 ECU.
Here's my problem it seems from a dead start I tend to detonate in first during hard acceleration and then detonation tapers off as I go throught gears. Now, if I take off while rolling in 2nd I can rip throught all the gears without any detonation.
I thought it might be pre-iginition from a too advanced ignition curve so I back off the timming at the distrutor, but the seem to worsen the problem of detonation in first gear.
The Air/Fuel ratio stay about 11.5-12:1 during acceleration so I believe that I have enough fuel, but I'm kind of running at ends here trying to figure out what else could I check.
Any idea ?

yeap, sounds liketip in detionation to me. you SURE you retarded the timing and didnt advance it?
For the most part you justhave to know WHEN and WHEN NOT to stab the throttle
