Default Detonation and timming

Heres the meat of my setup:
b18c1 with CTR .25 pistons, skunk2 stage 2 cams, and a Skunk2 chipped P28 ECU.

Here's my problem it seems from a dead start I tend to detonate in first during hard acceleration and then detonation tapers off as I go throught gears. Now, if I take off while rolling in 2nd I can rip throught all the gears without any detonation.

I thought it might be pre-iginition from a too advanced ignition curve so I back off the timming at the distrutor, but the seem to worsen the problem of detonation in first gear.

The Air/Fuel ratio stay about 11.5-12:1 during acceleration so I believe that I have enough fuel, but I'm kind of running at ends here trying to figure out what else could I check.

Any idea ?
