Does anybody know what would cause intake detonation. This is racking my brain. I have tried everything. Retarding the cam, adding fuel, taking away fuel. the car is a 2002 civic so I cant adjust the ing. timing. I know it is detonating through the intake cause it keeps pushing out my IAT sensor. It is fine at half throttle but as soon as I go to full throttle and the boost starts to get to 3psi POP. Please help.

what engine management are you using?

 

Change your spark plugs. It sounds like your plugs might be to hot and they are pre-igniting. Either go colder or iridium.

 

Ever try changing the iat sensor so that it doesnt come out.. Thats probably not detonation, its probably just boost pushing the sensor out of the rubber grommet..

 

I am using denso irid. IK22's. I have 2 extra injectors on a stand alone computer. I know is is detonating back in to the intake manifold cause you hear a loud pop in the charge pipe and the IAT sensor pops out. It only comes out when it detonates. It never pops out other than that even at 13psi.

 

Not sure how you could get detonation back through the intake pipe.. I would guess that maybe your ignition timing is wayyyyy off or you have a really bent valve(s).. Maybe also your cam timing is way off..

 

Where are your extra 2 injectors placed? Any chance that the gas from them is pre-igniting in the hot manifold causing the IAT to pop out?

they are right inder the throttle above the intake manifold. that could be posible

 

maybe a lean misfire?... i seen those alot...

 

Right but a lean misfire wouldnt come back through the intake, it would go out the exhaust unless there are bent valves or cam timing is way off..
