Default desoldering holes to chip ECU...

I'll start off with...I don't care if I ruin my ECU, blow up my car, ETC. so if you wanna flame me about stupid ****, no thanks...

OK. So, I'm outside in the garage trying to desoldering these damn holes, now I've got some braided copper wire (used to soak up solder, says it right on the side)...

I know some guys from homemadeturbo.com have done it this way...but what gives man, is there any other way than using that stupid little turkey baster thing that hooks to the soldering pen, or this braiding stuff, cause its not working well at all. I have a good soldering pen, maybe the tip isn't pointy enough? Leave me some feedback DIY guys. thanks.

i did mine no problem....i also am NASA certified to solder aerospace components. the best way is to use solder wick/braid which you have. Good idea to apply solder flux to joint being desoldered as well as to the braid to draw the solder into it. Some of the joints will either be on a ground plane or VCC plane, so it will either take a little more heat or tad more time to desolder.

I got the holes desoldered...chipped the ECU, started it up, ran a little funny...I guess my cold start is a little off, after it warmed up it ran fine...full throttle launch worked...everything was working. thanks for your help.

radio shack sells a de-soldering iron for 10 bucks... it's a soldering iron with a plastic bulb thing attached... chipped my ecu in 20 minutes....

and i used a ebay chip too and it does the same thing... rough cold idle, and all of that good stuff...
