Deckplate timing issues...
Well here is the deal. After tensioning the timing belt I can't seem to get all the marks to line up. The cams line up but the crank pulley is off by about a 1/4 inch. The white mark is off to the right of the timing mark on the timing belt cover. I have tried absolutelly everything to get it to line up but it always sits 1/4 inch to the right. So I fire it up. Even with the distributor fully cranked towards the front of the car the red timing mark is about 2 inches off to the right of the mark when I check it with the timing light. Anyone know how to solve this??? I need to get this dialed in so I can take it and get tuned. TIA

The belt fits fine. I don't see how a custom belt will help.

See, I tried that. I lined up the cam gears and then loosened he cam gears up so I could move just the outer part of them. I then lined up the crank pully to the timing mark. But after doing so nothing changed. It just goes back to where it was but the cam gears show a few degrees of advance. Am I missing something here?

That is what I did when I put it together. If it was that easy I wouldn't post. I wish that was all it took. Thanks for the suggestions.

After I installed a thicker headgasket on my b16, i basically have the same problem as you. First set the cam gears to zero and line them up correctly. Then line up the crank pulley. Slide t-belt on making sure the cams do not move. This is where the crank has moved slightly and the marks do not line up correct? That is because the teeth on the t-belt do not line up correctly when everything is set right because of the slight change in height. Now loosen your cam gears so they can be adjusted and turn the crank back to where it needs to go. The outer ring of the cam gears will move but the cams are staying at zero, even though the gears are reading other then zero. Now everything should be at tdc.
