Default dead cylinder HELP!!!!

so i bought a turbo 99 civic, d16z6. it has a huge list of aftermarket parts on it including a brand new head with new valves retainers ETC... would it have a dead cylinder because the valves need adjusting? or would it be something else. if so can someone give me an idea to what it might be. hoping i dont need rings.

Did you do anything to figure it out? did you do a compression test ? did you check with a noid light that every injector is energizing? Did you check for spark on everything cylinder? Did you do anything?

To answer your question, no. A valve lash on the loose side of things will not cause a cylinder to loose compression. What symptoms are you getting that make you think one of your cylinders isn't holding compression?

If you have valves way too tight then yes you can have a cylinder with low compression.

Start simple. Check for spark. Check for fuel in that cylinder. Do a compression test. Check valve clearance. Then go from there.

It has spark, when you pull the spark plug wires or one by one the idle drops until you get to cylinder 4.

Swap the wire with a different cylinder and see if the misfire follows it. If it does then the wire is bad. If cylinder 4 still is misfiring then look into adjusting the valves, check the contact point on the rotor for cyl 4 and go from there
