Default DC power to manual steering rack swap

So, my brother bought a teg a while back. It had the power steering rack in it with the whole " loop the lines" setup. About 6 months down the road he started having problems with the rack, so he bought a new one and looped the lines again. Needless to say, about another 6 months go by, and more issues occurred. So i started thinking, its a "power" rack for a reason, it needs fluid pumped through it to be lubed properly. He didnt want power steering so I started doing research about the civic rack swap. I couldn't find much except that the pass. Side bracket doesn't work. Some ppl were saying it bolts right up (which is not true), other ppl said u need the civic subframe to make it work. Now that is an option, but its way too much work and way too costly for no reason at all. So we got the civic rack and started brainstorming. The dc steering knuckle is too big for the eg rack, so u will need the eg knuckle, the 2 drivers side bolts line right up, but the pass. Side civic bracket is too short on both sides of the rack and the dc bracket give the rack way too much room to move. So here's what we came up with, simply cut the holes on the civic bracket all the way out to the end on both sides, put the civic bushing and bracket on the rack, then put the dc bracket OVER the eg bracket and weld them together and bolt it down. BOOM your done!! Wasn't that easy?

I jus figured is post this up for the ppl like me that couldn't find much info on this. It has no play or anything and drives MUCH better than the looped p/s rack.

The power rack has a better ratio then the manual eg rack. If he installed a new one and had problems then he's doing something wrong. Many many people run the power rack with looped lines and have been doing it for years. Mine's been looped since right after I bought the car and never showed any issues. You have to leave some fluid in the rack to keep things lubricated. Don't run it bone dry.

He always did have fluid in it, what he actually did was mounted a resivior and ran both lines to it. I kno the teg rack has a better ratio but the non-power power steering rack was too hard to use on a DD for our taste, the eg rack feels way better especially at high speeds when it starts getting loose
