Default DAMN TACH!!!

I am having some problems with my distributor. Last week my tach started to jump back and forth the symptoms of a bad igniter, so I replace the igniter and the problem remains. While IM accelerating the tach moves slightly, but under WOT it pegs quickly to 8K. Could it be anything else that I have missed? I checked all my connections. I notice that when I turn the key to the acc spot the tach moves to 1k. IM stumped here.

Sounds like it might be a ground issue. Check the ground from the transmission to the frame and aslo the wire harness ground on the thermostat housing.

Hey Bro i had the same problem so i opend up my distributor and checked all my terminal plugs that lead to the igniter and the coil some of them were worn down by the heat so i cut them off and replaced them and it works ok know but it would jump up to 8000rpms then back to 4 even if i waznt driving but its good to go now but try checking that..

My Dizzy is brand new from the distributor king. Besides that, I've already swapped it out for a friends dizzy who doesn't have the problem ending up with the same result.
