the y8 oil pump was the worst oil pump that ever went into a honda, go with a z6/a6 or get one from endyne

Y8 dipstick is on/goes through the oil pump. Z6 pump doesnt have a spot like that for it.

Anyone know what those pumps have done to them?

1. Never give credibility to anyone who mentions Endyne or posts a link to their site/products.

2. Raising the powerband essentially depends on two things - the cam and intake manifold. It's possible to make power up to 8,500. Is it practical? Well, no. The point of a D16 isn't higher revs, it's higher torque at lower revs. If you keep pushing for a higher powerband, you're going to loose all your low end and overall output will decline.

3. There is nothing wrong with the y8 oil pump. This has been discussed a million times on this board - oil pump failure is related to harmonics and vibration. Realistically, with a good cam, a ported head, and a short-runner intake manifold, you'll make power to about 8,200. The oil pump will handle that no problem if you (a) make sure you have a fully balanced rotating assembly and (b) for extra protection, use a fluidamper.

so 8200 is realistic with appropiate headwork?

it's not the failure of the oil pump, The y8 doesnot give enought flow. not enough oil
=spun bearing(s). the pasage ways are smaller.

he asked about an oil pump, i gave him an oil pump, what do you have against endyne?
I feel the same way except with people who mention full-race

You are absolutly right on the damper.
