Default d16y7 in a d16y8?

I bought a 99 Civic EX 5-speed a couple months ago with a blown d16y8 for $85 off a friend I work with.
Just recently I have came across a deal for a d16y7 with 130k miles for $100.

I was just wondering if the d16y7 will swap right in fine. Would there need to be any altercations made at all? Will the current ecu work? I don't know much about honda's since I have been wrapped up in the whole DSM ordeal. This car is just going to be my daily driver so i'm not really concerned about the 20hp loss from no longer having the vtec.

Anyways, Thanks in advance your help. Sorry about some of the newb questions.

d16y7 will fit fine you could even put the d16y8 head on the d16y7 block just remove the oil blocker in the y7 block so you can get into vtec

i am talking about if you put the d16y8 vtec head on the d16y7 block he would have to remove that little plug on the d16y7 block to be able to get vtec to work

and you would also need a d16 vtec ecu to make the vtec work

understand now?
