Default D16 vs. D17

What are the differences besides displacement? How did they increase the displacement? I'm sure this has been a topic, but nothing came up in my search. Also are the heads the same or does the D17 have larger combustion chambers.

MDMA...nice touch. anyway, stroke for the d17 is 4.4 mm longer, d17 is distributorless, d17 is way less sexy than the d16, and i am looking for the cc.

You like that.. It was Falcon's idea I can't do anything about it. At least I was smart enough to change my address.. Thanks for the info. None of the sites that I visit regularly even had the stroke just displacement. I want to get a D-series to use as the spare motor when I take the normal one out. I've been with out a car for 2 1/2 monthes and had to drive my G/F's car. Blech I can't stand it.

Well what about bolting a D16Y8 head to the D17 short block? Any problems with that? Both VTEC engines right? So no oil lines need to be run. Any idea????

Don't even bother. From what I heard the d17 is a bust, a piece of S***. I found something on this post about the d17 motor. It says the d17 pistons probably have the weakest and smallest design of any d series piston. Also it said honda changed the head and block enough that the older components won't line up. The post where this is at is on my signature, about page 5.
