Default D15Z1 q's

Although I restrain myself from posting anything on HT , I try to figure out things from this board and get some valueble information by reading all of HT's members posts, but today I wanna ask you guru's a qeustion.
Ok my qeustion is I will be taking out parts from my cousins wrecked 97 EX coupe basicly he just bought the wrecked car from the Ins. company and just selling parts, for me im taking the Y8 tranmission and the components for the intake mainfold. I wanted to know is that since my car is OBD 1 with no knock sensor I need a Ecu at least from any 92-95 Ex cpe,Si hatch or Si Sol (p28 ecu) since the Ecu from the 97 coupe won't correct?
I could swap engine but im really on a budget (seriously), only reason I want to do this is that I wanna try this on my own car and learn from it. Having 3 years of automotives in my high school going into my 4th year right now I feel really confident on working on my own car instead of working on old Toyota Corolla's and Nissan trucks that we have at our shop, not junkers or anything but good base's to work on repairing and getting them back on the road again.

Cliff Notes: Have a D15z1 engine, taking y8 tranny and intake manifold from cousins car, need a 92-95 p28 ecu, seriously on a low budget, doing this mini me thing for exprience. Will this work?

Default Re: D15Z1 q's (slowpokeHB)

would be hella easier and most deff worth it to swap the whole motor.
just use your harness and get a vafc or if you know how to use schematics wire for vtec with that..

thats the way i would go i would rather do a full swap then change tranny's and head work anyday.

that would be cheap as hell just time mostly.
