ok so i have an engine rebuilding class at school, and i was going to build up a d15b8 with a d16y8 head that i had chillin around. but at school they have a d15b1 shortblock sitting there that i can have and build, it is brand new never used before. it has never seen oil or anything. they bought it from honda and never used it for anything. i was wondering if anyone new anything about them. i looked on the refrence section of honda-swap and found nothing, they dont even have it on the list. i looked far and wide for some more in fo on it. all i found was in the mitchell manual at school it is from a 88-91 but it doesnt say what modle of honda had it. and i think it said it was throttle body injection. so thats all i have so far. the block looks axactly like my d15b8 i was gonna build and like my d15b7 in my hatch, the head bolt and oil stuff looks the same too so i am gonna put a y8 head on it. if anyone has any info i would appreciate it.

 

my friend had that engine in his 91 DX DPFI....if you do build it up...mill .020 off Y8 head and you'll have a nice 11.1:1 CR with the Y8 headgaket..
