d15b stage 3 HELP!!!
Ok I just bought a stage 3 d15b odb2 cuz my d16a6 head blew...so ima use my a6 tranny and my harness for this swap my homie is doing the swap now ...I wanted the obd1 d15b vtec but they were out of stock and need my car running ...and I'm useing my non vtec ecu not sure wat ecu is it I'm new to the honda scene ...what problems ima going to go threw? 92 eg ferio
oooo ****!! stage 3 d15b!!!!!! go pay someone to do the job for you. how are you running an d16a6 transmission on a 92 civic? You are gonna have tons of problem. Just because its a honda doesn't mean it gonna be easy the first time.
Well I believe its a a6 tranny maybe its a d15b7 I'm not sure ...I bought the car off craigslist ....I just need to know what do I need to do to get the car running right? or trade it in for another vtec engine that's easyer to swap in my car.
If you try to run this engine they'll know what it is. You would have to run the OBD2 ecu and add all of the OBD2 emissions equipment that were originally used with the engine/ecu. Find a different engine IMO.
The shop I got it from said I could use my non vtec harness I just need to wire the vtec in and use a p28 ecu ...But the thing is im using a auto tranny ...its to late my friend is puting it in already can i change the head to make things easier?

When you go to smog and they ID the engine they're going to expect you to have the correct ecu for the engine and all of the supporting emissions equipment. OBD2.
You're digging yourself into a hole you're not going to want to be in because the top is obviously above your head.
The "shop" is telling you what you want to hear so you don't ask for your money back.
Call a local REF station and explain what you're trying to do. They should be able to tell you what you need to pass. Don't BS them or the info they give you won't apply when it comes test time.

Yea I regret geting that motor didn't know how difficult it was to do all this ...I can't get my money back but could exchange for a different motor I got fucked over ....
Your car is a 92 civic eg
your motor your purchase is a d15b obd2
Take the Stage 3 d15b obd2 motor and swap the motor mount bracket and re use your engine harness unless you can find a ex engine harness and buy a p28 automatic ecu. You will reuse your injectors and swap intake manifold. You can purchase a obd2 to obd1 dizzy plug converter. its not really hard to do.

Would my vtec activate with this set up? And change my manifold to which one? @ n*werk ...@raver and I Live in california

3 stage vtec has 2 vtec solenoids and also different camshaft and rocker assembly
you need a specific ecu to run it which is not available in US so FAIL
trade that motor for a usdm spec motor and tranny and install it.

Its easier to just trade it dont try to do things hard way.

Ok the thing is I don't care about the stages of this engine as long as my transmission shifts when its suppose to I'm ok and at least have one stage of vtec ...i heard the p2p auto ecu is good I'm guessing thats the y8 ecu? Correct me if im wrong
U gonna be wasting money and time. U understand that engine wont run properly with wrong ecu.
Post it on craigslist and trade for the usdm engine. thats ur best option unless u want to spend slot of time tweaking with this sht and get nowhere

trade your 3 stage vtec for a d16z6 complete swap plus wire harness and p28 ecu and you should be good.
3 stage is a great engine if you dont have to worry about visual inspection.
if you want to keep that engine you need to get the correct ecu and wiring harness for it.or add the missing wires.
it will pass smog tailpipe but not visual inspection if they check the engine or ecu

what the **** you talking about? how is it a fail?
your vtec would activate as long as you can find a p28 automatic ecu because your car is an automatic. Just make sure you have the pin to shock tower to ecu for vtec and buy an ex civic engine harness automatic. Its not that hard bro, quit making it hard for yourself. You can use a jdm d15b to smog your vehicle without a problem as long you switch the right parts to obd1. You can pay me to do the swap, lol.

Car will still run with all the correct sensor obd1. Will fill like **** till it hit vtec. Will still be able to pass smog. Op just want the car to run correct, doesn't care for power. Just google 3 stage vtec and you will find tons of info.
Ok I did some research and found out that I can use a p2p auto y8 ecu and I will only activate the vtec and not the lean burn and the 12v stage I guess ...I just want my auto tranny to work right and have the Vtec to kick in i really dont care about how much miles i could get ...I don't want to shift my auto tranny ima end up burning it out ...Again im new to the honda scene i need all the help i can get..n*work where do u stay? Lol
Oh well ur money and time. Its like some people run built motors on basemap and then u see them on craigslist selling the car and claim theres no issues(yet)
