D15B questions
Hey i was lookin around for waht the heck VTEC-E (my motor has it) is and i saw this engine with a "3-stage VTEC".
(http://www.leecao.com/honda/vtec/3stagevtec.html) for info
Ive tried looking around for it on the internet and i cant seem to be able to find out much info about it. I would like to purchase one, partly for the 54mpg and partly for the 128hp (trust me its a jump from my engine).
Also, sorry i may seem stupid (i am) but how much of the engien is included in the "long block"

The engine you are referring to is the JDM d15b SOHC VTEC. It was put in some japanese civics and some Canadian civics, I believe there are a few different choices to this engine though. Some come with the three stage vtec and some have just regular vtec, In all reality these engines are just a VX block with a z6 head. IMO I would just try to get a d16z6. They are cheaper and easier to find and have the same amount of HP.
Hmmm, the D15B8 is the CX engine. It makes 72hp and 94lb/ft torque. Nothing special, no VTEC, just 8 valves and one cam. If you're talking about the HX engine, VTEC-E works by normally running only on 12 valves- 2 exhaust and 1 intake valve operating under "normal" driving condition, exceed the VTEC x-over point and all 16 valves opperate giving better HP #'s. This is not a very good motor for tuning or getting good 1/4 mile times from.
