Need help on figuring out to get this engine working right don't have money to take it to the shop And spending more money then what it is worth. I need to know what ecu to run p08 or a p28? What intake mani the one it came with or the one i have is a d15b7? Im using a obd1 harness with a non vtec dizzy with wires ...ps i have a usdm auto tranny cant afford to swap to 5spd

Neither of those ECU's are for that engine. Is your check engine light on? What codes?

 

I received another obd2 cause they didn't have a obd1 in stock ....I fixed the idling problem now my transmission won't shift at all

 

What ecu are you using? Is it auto?

 

Just trade it for a z6 motor bro and stop messing with .

Its been like 3 weeks now? You will have a running engine by now if you just keep it simple

This engine is all bad bro..I live in california I talked to some guy that was going to buy a eg8 with this engine and the owner was using usdm 4 speed tranny and it was working perfect...the thing is he didnt see or ask wat ecu he was using and the 2 solenoids on the tranny wasent hooked up

 

Got my tranny shifting and my engine running right ...I'm using a non vtec ecu feels like a I'm towing a car and I think I'm running rich? By me chipping my ecu will cause these things to go away? Ima chip it to a p08

theres no magic answer that someone can give you to make your car run right.

no matter how many times you ask.


download crome free and compare all the different single cam fuel and ignition maps maybe you will understand how much difference there is

which can be found on pgmfi wiki.
also register on pgmfi and browse through the forum theres tons of info there

The ECU you need is a P2J for that engine. Don't know if there's a version for an auto.

 

There's an auto P2J but it's for the CVT so it won' work.


It's been said before...this engine in an OBD1 car in California is a big mistake.

 

Well I heard a p08 will run the fuel maps but not the 3 stages of this engine...really don't care about the stages cause watever I do it will never work right ...just want the high end vtec to kick in and not run so rich

 

It doesn't matter what you think you want. You'll never pass the low/high idle speed emissions test. I doubt you'd even get past the visual inspection.

You need to get a D15B7 or D16Z6 and be done with it if you're going to stay SOHC.

 

No turning back already in my car ...i had a d16a6 in my car and thats a obd0 engine and passed smog with a p06 ecu and Obd1 harness

 

im guessing you re on your own at this point do research.

I did when I swapped a d15z1 into a civic. and found all info that I needed

 

best thing you could do is pick 2 cam profiles out of 3 and match the fuel/ignition maps from 2 different basemaps into one so it runs

 

Yeah. Then he screwed up. I don't think if money was an issue that I would not have research way more than the OP did before dropping any coin on an engine I knew absolutely nothing about.
