Default D-Series Tuning

after talking to tim, and looking at my options... building a d series is my prime choice in my opinion. its cheap, and requires some work. i have the time to offer, as im 17 and have no life

im thinking of getting a d16z, the parts for the manual conversion, porting it, hondata, cheap t25 turbo from junkyard, new pisons and rings, cam and shaft, and i/e. i know it sounds expensive, but tim convinced me its all possible for just around $2000, assuming i get used parts and find some sales here and there.

i know it isn't going to be the most reliable thing if i race it left and right at 12psi, but if i drive it normal and never pull it past 8 psi unless its nessicary, its gonna last a good ammount of time.

im just curious as to what you guys think of this and what setups you guys have on your sohc.

any reccomendations, or ideas?

just get a low milage D16z,forget about piston/rings/cam,you dont need that for 12psi and under but get a good clutch.I dont know about the junkyard turbo thing.id pass on that idea if i were you.Tried to find a used greddy kit, they cant be much as i seen them selling for $1499 new without IC for sohcs.

I said get a used kit not a new $1499 kit...and piston and rings are $20..big deal, you still need to get the machine work done, the boring, checking the rods, cutting the crank and new bearings,it adds up quick and it dont make sense for only 12psi on a budget...besides they cant be good forged pistons either, not at $20 each, just cheapo stock cast replacements so your not really making anything stronger.
