D-series head bolt lengths
I bought new bolts and did head gasket, but when I checked new bolts they're 20mm longer, they were supplied with a kit using VIN to match engine so I paid no attention assuming they would be alright (reputable brand sold in the UK; BGA) , I put them in and cracked the block on 2nd round of torquing to factory specs, they were sticking up higher than head but thought following torquing down would fix it. At 49ft-lb I started 3rd round of torquing got to bolt 5 and cracked block, the bolts were still sat high 16mm high to be exact
Now the supplier of parts swears they are the right ones but are they f*** now I'm wondering if they supplied the wrong engine bolts or the wrong bolts all together (regardless they were wrong but I want to know how wrong they were exactly, Is there a difference in the d-series bolt lengths? Like are Vtec/non-vtec different lengths or are 88-95 different to 95-00 etc?
