Default D Series Compression Ratio ?!?!?!?

I have a set of pistons and rods from a CRX Si that i'd like to see if they fit in a D16Z6 motor. The CRX Si motor is the D16A6, and the part number to the SRP pistons is: 149190 (here is the link to the pdf catalogue: http://www.jepistons.com/pdf/2...a.pdf ) The rods are Eagles and are part number 5394AH0 as seen here:

now the pistons are out of a D16A6 SOHC non-Vtec motor (CRX Si) and i'd like to see if they'll fit in a D16Z6. and if so, what compression ratio would they yield?

Bore would be 75.00 (Standard) for both motors.

Thanks for any input guys!

Let me ask this: will they work FIRST OF ALL

there will be no head/block combo's. the old motor (D16A6) was not a frakenstein, neither will the new one (D16Z6) be.

Thanks!

R/S Ratio: 1.52
Deck Height: 212mm

92-95 EX/Si D16Z6 OE Piston Spec
total height: 60.00mm
compression height: 30.00mm (1.181" per JE)
3.00mm dish

D16A6 OE Piston Spec
compression height: 29.5mm (1.161")

JE D16A6 Piston Spec
total height: ?
compression height: 1.161" (29.49 mm)
dome volume: 4.3 cc
compression ratio: 11:1

Here is all the info you need. Seems it will work, but you'll have to figure out the new compression ratio. The A6 piston has a smaller compression height than the Z6, but the Z6 head has a much smaller combustion chamber than the A6. Use the calculator to figure it out.

so these flat pistons will fit, just yield a some what high CR? thicker head gasket?

thanks for the info RStoR!

Opps...I used the NA piston specs rather than Boost piston. You need to use the Boost piston Dome Displacement of -2.9 cc instead.

the piston/rod combo should fit in the motor. i do know that sometimes eagle rods require the block to be notched when using the single cam d16 motor. i'm not sure if the z6 has this problem.

as for the compression ratio, it looks like 10.5:1 in an all stock z6. if you run the a6 headgasket which is thicker (not 100% sure it will work...you would need to check the coolant holes and jackets), you would be at 10.2:1 compression.

hth.

It will fit. If you need lower compression just use a 2mm head gasket.

Yes. It is the same bore. Use the compression calculator linked a few posts up to figure out the C/R.
