Cylinder Walls and Sleeves...
I recently shot a rod through the block of my B18B and after being torn for quite sometime about the possibility of a swap into my car, obviously have to go big if spending the cash on a new engine, I have decided to build the #$@& out of a B18B and throw a wack load of boost at it. My question now pertains to boring and sleeving. I am interested in getting 84mm sleeves and was curious to hear if boring the cyclinders out for the sleeves causes any problems with the cylinder walls being too thin? Sorry for the noobish question but this is my first engine build and I haven't been able to find any information pertaining to the maximum bore capabilities while maintaining adequate cyclinder wall thickness or if the sleeves will take care of this issue altogether. Thanks.
what type of sleeves?? darton mids or liners?? i wouldnt run a large bore turbo motor...keep the bores close to stock or slightly over if you can snag pistons
when resleeving a block you get rid of most of the stock sleeve. i do not sagest having a local machine shop do the work as this most of the time don't get done right and ends up costing you more money then you wanted to spend. i sagest sending your block to a shop that does sleeves al the time and knows what they are doing. as for how big you can go we do max turbo bore of 85mm and you can boost up to 70 psi on them with out a problem.

</TD></TR></TABLE> lets see eggum is boosting around 60psi and and has never had a sleeve fail. bergenholtz is also boosting around 60psi and also has never broken a sleeve. chuck Seitsinger is also boosting around 60psi and he has made a block last the hole season with out a problem and there the same sleeves we use for all our blocks
ps all of them are 84mm or bigger bore.we also have tons of turbo street cars running 85mm daily driven no problems been doing it for years and for na we have lots of guys running 86mm on the streets with no problems but i sagest 85mm for max on a daily driven street car

ohh were not talking about sleeve reliability here i know the ductile iron is good for beyond that were talking about head gaskets, bearings, block dimensional integrity, piston rings, and so on and so fourth which is what i meant by down the street...sorry for any confusion...

</TD></TR></TABLE> like i said 84mm sleeves head gasket pistons and rings are fine for the street and will last. i know he is not going to be boosting 70 psi on it. i was just letting him know that he can sleeve it to 84 or 85mm and boost as much as he wants on it. for a street cars most are around 15 to 25 psi

i like those butressed sleeves you guys sell the godzilla series or w/e theyre called they're beefy...people have to be modest these days 15 psi with 9:1 pistons is all anyone would need for the street...do you guys make your specs out to darton for your sleeve manufacturing??

we only do the hd sleeves now, much more beefy and we make all our sleeves 100% in house

pretty sweet im guessing all nakamura equipment and such?? or did you opt for haas? im curious to know if you do both interference-fit liners and MID style sleeves like darton as well??
