CV boots and rats
My wife was told she had to replace both fron cv boots because it looks like an animal ripped them open. They don't think it was road hazard and the 2001 civic has only 23000 miles. Has anyone heard of this, and how do you prevent it? No animals in our garage.
I just had the same thing happen to me this weekend (well I noticed it when changing my oil), I have absolutely no idea how it happened. I figure the boot split a little while ago and I ran over something that caught the edge, thus tearing away most of the boot.
Rats love to chew knock sensor wiring when they make their home in the intake manifold of v6 TL's and MDX's. Have not seen a rat chewed c.v. boot yet. We did see a live rat sitting on top of a caliper when a car came in for service. The tech just about had a heart attack. Seems like there are a lot of rats in Long Beach.
I work for a dealership in Md. and we have had several cars that have had rats and mice caught up in the brake calipers. It is kinda funny thinking about what went through there tiny little brains when the car started moving. Well, that is just a few less rodents out there that like to sleep where they don't belong.
