Cutting front clip off and replacing?? pricing ??
A friend of mine came across a 92-95 hatch that was hit in the front and front clip is pretty much gone. And we were curious approximatley how much shops charge for cutting a front clip off and welding another on. Does anyone have any information on this? I did a search but couldnt find anything on prices. thanks guys.

so it can be mad tite jdM y0!
but seriously i thing it would cost a pretty penny
especially for the front clip

I wouldn't want to be in an accident with a clipped car, even done by a real pro they are not as safe as unclipped car. And anyone less than a real pro, they are a hazard.
Yeah its true what these guys are saying....it will never be the same and will most likely have suspension and driving problems later on.
Thanks for all of the replies guys. He's aware of the dangers of it if it not done right. But he was planning on getting a pro to do it not some half *** guy with a welder, that way it'll be returned to as close as it was when it rolled off the assembly line. But were just wondering if anybody on here mgiht have some approximate prices before we call this week, so we can get some sort of idea. thanks again everyone
i always thought welds were stronger than the material that surrounded them. BTW- our local importer can get me a del sol front clip or a civic front clip for 1600 dollars without installation.

Except Hondas are unibody, and the chances that you could get it to have a straight, safe frame again after such a compramise in integrity are almost nil. I'm not sure about the states, but here in Germany it is almost illegal to try to straighten out a frame that was twisted in a wreck, and if you could it would be very expensive to get it legal, and there is no way you could pass off a welded front clip.

Regardless if its done with a pro, it still is not going to have the integrity of a car that was never clipped. It may be safer than a non pros job, but next to an unclipped car it will never be as safe. I would not drive a clipped car. I value my life too highly.
hey ya man watch out for the clipped cars thing cuz one that is agianst the law in the united states my cuz was busted at his shop for doing it. cuz a customer said he wanted it done so he did it and he get into some hardcore trouble. but i think it would just be smarter to do it nice and easy and take ur time and just transfer one part to the other one by one. it might take a little bit longer but god dang it will be hella nice when it gets finished. thats what iam doing with the ek9 i just bought the car got hit in the front so iam gunna use it as a parts car and just swap everything into my dx ek and bam i got me a ek9 rhd and its legal. but thats me. but good luck with which ever way u go and ur car will look nice newayz i bet.
