CTR cams in a B16A4
Does any one know what I should expect from simply dropping civic type r cams into a b16a4 (JDM SiR'98)? Only intake and exhaust at present. No headers, variable cam timing gear, ecu etc installed at present.
Also, what do I need to do to start to maximise the power from these cams - would simply adjusting the timing be a good first step?

With just the cams themselves, I wouldn't expect more that 5~7hp to the wheels, if that. I would highly suggest I/H/E, some cam gears(if you can get on a dyno), adjustable FPR, and some sort of reprogrammed ecu. Dyno tuning would be the key.

Don't expect any power gains at all by simple "dropping them in". You might experience a loss in power.
Maybe if you use the adj. cam gearsm get a good flowing header to open the exhaust side a bit, and tune it. Then you might be able to free up a few ponies.

I think (and you know how that goes!) I feel some more grunt in the middle, just before vtec and up to about 7500. I have not had a chance yet to time the car to see if my feelings translate into anything real world. Someone has these cams for sale and gave me the oppertunity to try them out. So I want to know if these would be a better base for tuning as you suggested than the stock SiR cams before I make a purchase decision.
Thanks for the response.
