Default CRX - Rev problems

I've got a CRX Si 1988 standard. A few times a day(while i'm driving or Parked with the engine on) it will rev on its own sometime up to 6000rpm and then it will drop to 750rpm. It will just rev in between that backet. And then it will stop on 750rpm for a bit and then go back to 1000rpm. The engine warning light will come one while this is happening. But if you turn the engine off and back on the warning light will go off.The engine warning light will comwe on if you start racing?

Any help will appreciated.
