Crx electrical wiring question..
Im modifing my 89' crx dx car harness on my racecar.. Im trying to run the starter wire over to my switch panel.. I know the white/black wire is for the starter and I know I can tap into it at the ignition switch but im trying to see where it goes on the fuse box..
I know fuse #2 is for the starter and I can see that one side of the fuse going to the engine harness and its white/black but I dont want to tap into there for the starter noid since it will be unfused then.. I did some tracing and found that the same wire also connects to the main relay (smaller blue wires) and one goes back to the fuse box and the other goes to the ecu(starter signal)..
My question is where else can I tap to make a push button starter without going into the ignition switch wires, why is starter signal from the ignition going to the main relay, and finally on my engine harness the wire going to the starter noid is small(like 16 gauge wire) but the fused wire leaving the inside fuse box is like 10 gauge wire and goes into the engine compartment???

Heres what i would do if i were you. First find some good schematics and study them.
Now.. I would just find out which wire inside the cabin is the signal wire on the starter. Cut it, the end that goes to the starter hold onto it, the other end cap it let it hang.
Now the end from the starter, run this to one side of your pushbutton, the other side of the pushbutton run it into the fuse box for power. Im assuming you will have lots of extra spots since its a racecar so you wont have many of the accessories. tap it into a 15Amp spot, there you go. You really just needed fused power on the other side of the button. Fusepannel is the easiest/most reliable way.
Goodluck.. If you dont like my idea, study the schmatic's and find your wires. Its hard tracing things though these cars, i just use the schmatics and presto you can jump into any harness and you know what all the wires do instead of cutting things open tracting etc etc.

I agree with you here but I dont think running it to the starter will work right because there is also a cranking signal that goes to the ecu to tell it to run crank inject routines..
There is also a wire that goes to the main relay that turns the fuel pump on during cranking but I dont need that since im running the fuel pump to a switch..

I know that but also power goes to the ecu and the main relay.. Im trying to find a place earler than the starter wire to tap it at.. Also I saw in one of my diagrams that the starter is relayed, Another diagram shows it as using only the selenoid..
