oh ****...mine just stopped as well like yestersay..i was wondering the same question i got a 2000 b20z2 on my 96 hatch and my speedometer and odometer doesnt work..but my rpm and fuel works....weird..havent checked the lines or my cluster yet ..so i duno..i would like to knoe information about this situation too..tahnx
I believe that the Speedo is not cable driven....it is electrical....there could be something amiss.....what year is the B20? 1999??? Hmmm.
it's most likely your VSS. I had this happen to me and it was hell trying to find out what was wrong. I took apart the dash and swapped clusters... checked wiring, fuses.... everything u could think of.
the VSS is located on the top of u'r tranny near the back. it has a plug with 3 wires coming out of it and the sensor prolly just went bad. when i took mine out, it was all rusty and corroded. so check that, i was able to get an extra one from a friend but i dunno how much a VSS cost.
There is a fuse for it but it's inside the SRS fuse block under the dash. This is speaking from a civic's standpoint but i'm sure it should be almost the same. i don't really think it would be that prob. there are ways to testing the VSS by probing the VSS plug and spinning the wheel to see if there are voltage changes. What the VSS does is send a frequency of pulses which then is translated by u'r speedo.
i would pull u'r VSS and swap with a friend. if that doesn't work, swap the cluster out.... it's all about isolating the problem.... HTH

Well, there is a screw in the back of the gauge cluster that will disable the speedo if it's removed (don't ask how I know
) but I doubt that fell out...
