Crower Econo- Billet rods Power capabilitys???
Does anyone have any experiance with these? They are the cheaper ones from race engineering listed under crower econobillet. Supposedly they are good to a well tuned 15 pounds on a 53 trim t3t4. Sounds like bullshit to me tho.
The car they are in is a b18c1, aem stand alone, full fuel system, golden eagle sleves, and je 9.0:1. Stock headgasket, arp studs, and a 60-1 custom kit.
Whats everyones oppinions on well tuned power handling on these turds?

I figured. They looked identical to the h beam. The rod cap bolts dont say crower, so it makes sence that they are eagle, but they came in crower boxes.
Anyhow, what are eagle rods capeable of max hp, as in when do they tend to break on well tuned engines?
Thanks for any imput.

On a well tuned engine with your fingers crossed they can hold somewhere in the 500+whp range. I have seen the rod bols break though at 200whp on a motor built by endyn and tuned by sfp on hondata. they dont like to be revved.

The regular crowers are I-beam
I think the Eagle rods are better. They have been proven to run over 500 hp.
I think the econo-billet is an attempt by Crower to make people think that the Eagle rods are crappy so they would get the regular Crower thinking that bought a far more superiour rod, when if fact they did, just not to the extent Crower makes it seem.
To sum it up, I think that the regular Crowers are the best, followed by the Eagle, then the Econo-billet.

took the words out of my mouth.
"lets make a budget sounding rod so it will promote sales of the more expencive ones"
Besides ive seen 400 whp on stock b16a rods, which look weaker then these eagles.

DON'T BUY EAGLES... The rod bolts are 9.5mm and taper down from there. I had a set stretch and snap on me not long ago, the rod cap shattered, and the rod snapped is self. the whole thing was a freekin mess. The car was tuned by SFP, the car ran fine for a couple months, but given my understanding, they aren't good for high RPM, apparently the bolts are just too weak to handle the RPMs. Any way, I checked on the whole Econobillet rods from crower, they are similar to the eagles, but use different rod bolts. Both use ARP but for what ever reason, the corew ones use bigger rod bolts. Go figure..... Wish I had done a little more looking into it first. Apparently eagles are common the snap on all motor cars as they aren't good at higher rpms???
Oh well, screw it, crower this time!!
