Default eagle or crower rods?

So im ordering parts today. From my reading the Crower Econo rods are pretty much just like eagle rods. But i heard rumors that the crowers have larger rod bolts.

Anybody like to comment? Im hoping for 400whp (max).

If i do go with eagles..is the $100 arp bolt option worth it?

thanks,
liam

just go with Crower standard billet, save the trouble and headaches int he future.

I have few good stories with Eagle than the Crower Econo.

I think you would be happier and more piece of mind just buying the reg. Crowers or manleys or pauters. Especially if you plan on making 400whp. If no decide not to, atleast get the ARP rod bolt option as these stretching has usually been the cause of Eagle rod failure. There are plenty of people running eagle rods and making good power on them and there are plenty that have failed. They seem to be a love hate rod on this board. I have no personal results with Crower Econo's.

get pauters if you can afford it and if you cant afford it then just get pauters anyway. dont take a chance destroying a bottom end over 300.00.

there is wisdom in this. also has been debated several times.

if you are going to get one or the other, i would get the eagles with the arp bolts, and yes it is worth the extra 100.

but get better rods if you have the extra money, just like everyone else has said.

This has been debated so many times. I have Eagle Rods. I will be making 350-400whp and they work for me. I am sure for one story about Eagle rods there is one about Crowers/Manley/Pauter. Many people have been successful with Eagle Rods. Get what you can afford. As long as they are installed correctly you shouldnt have problems with any of those rods.

you get what you pay for in this world. i paid a lot to have custom connecting rods made for my race engine 3SGTE by pauter. however, for my built h22 i am not using premium rods. why? well one thing you need to remember is WHY the rods are cheaper. they are not cheaper specifically cause they are not as high of quality... they are cheaper mostly due to the fact that they are machined in china where it costs next to nothing to make them. I cannot say much for the quality of eagle rods since i am not an engineer or a machinist. however if the material is consistent and the specifications are correct, i dont see there being a problem... i guess i will find out for myself when i start pushing this h22.

I posted this a few days ago about the ARP Custom Age 625+ "upgraded" rod bolts(Part# 300-6708). Does anybody know where I can get these? What price?

I don't want to even look to see how overpriced they are at summit, so that's not an option.

I would trust the 3sgte rods for 500whp before i would trust eagles. maybe cause the stock 3s rods are stronger than eagles.

If they were so good why would you have to upgrade the bolts? If you have a problem then they blame it on you because they'll say you torqued them too much? I think what they need to do is sell torque wrenches with them so they wont blame them on the user.

I definately agree with Mike on this. When I went and redid my motor I went with Pauter because it wouldn't be worth it building it and making good power to have a rod go through the block and ruin everything. It was just extra INSURANCE to me. I did however make my 500whp figures with the Eagle rods but it was another "Eagle" named company that ruined my motor. It's just "Golden"

Not saying they cant make a good rod because the material they use is great! But the rod bolts do stretch. But to me it looks like the B-series rods are almost the same design as the d-series.
blah, what do I know. I'm not an engineer.

One more thing, Ive seen 730whp on gas with the eagles. But that still isnt enough to convince me because the car never made a good pass ever due to driver error.
